Questions, answered.

22 answers about setup, billing, security, daily use, ships and Azimuth Edge.

Getting started

What do I have to install?

It depends on what you monitor. PCs, servers and NAS get the Azimuth Agent with one command. Omada and UniFi networks need only an API key. Websites need only their address. Sites behind CGNAT or Starlink get a site tunnel, set up by pasting settings into the gateway.

Do I need to open ports on the customer's firewall?

No. The agent and site tunnels connect outbound from the site. Nothing at the site has to accept incoming connections.

Two of my customers use the same address range. Is that a problem?

No. Each site tunnel maps the customer's network one to one onto its own range, so no site is ever renumbered.

How long does setup take?

A new company is walked through agreement, details, alert settings, team, first site and first equipment in minutes. After that, an agent takes about two minutes per machine and a controller about five.

Which network vendors do you support?

TP-Link Omada and Ubiquiti UniFi today. MikroTik, FortiGate, Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Teltonika and a generic SNMP driver are on the roadmap.

Billing

How is Azimuth priced?

Per device, per month, by kind of equipment: computers, servers, network devices and access points each have their own price, with volume discounts. Contact us for a quote.

Do I pay for devices that disappeared?

No. Devices a controller stops listing are flagged and left off the invoice. Retired equipment leaves the bill and keeps its history.

What happens if I add a device in the middle of the month?

You pay for the days it was monitored. The invoice is built from daily counts.

What if we reach our device limit?

You get a warning at 90 %. At 100 % new devices wait until the limit is raised, but monitoring of everything already there never stops.

How do I pay?

One monthly invoice, paid automatically by card through Stripe, with PDFs in the console.

Security and data

Where is my data kept?

At Hetzner in Germany, in the EU.

Can Azimuth staff see my data?

Only through a support session that states a reason, lasts 15 minutes to 2 hours and shows you a banner. Everything done in it is logged under both names.

Is two-step sign-in optional?

No. Every user signs in with a password and an authenticator app.

Who can run remote actions?

Owners, admins and technicians. Every action is confirmed and logged, and scripts run only after an admin approves them.

Alerts and daily use

How are alerts sent?

On screen, by e-mail and by Telegram, by severity. Push notifications are coming.

Will I get twenty messages when a link keeps dropping?

No. A link that keeps dropping and coming back sends one FLAPPING message, and closes itself once it has been stable for a while.

Can I put the globe on a TV?

Yes. A wall-screen link shows the globe or the Overview read-only, with no sign-in, and you can revoke it at any time.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Technicians get their day, alerts and tickets in a layout made for phones.

Is the console in Greek?

The console is in English today. Greek is planned.

Ships and Azimuth Edge

Can I monitor ships today?

Yes. The agent runs on onboard PCs and servers, and each ship's link is measured through its tunnel. A satellite mode for costly links and vessel tracking on the globe are on the roadmap.

When is Azimuth Edge available?

It is coming soon. Register interest on the Edge page and we'll tell you when it ships.

What will Azimuth Edge do?

Plug it into a site's network and it watches everything on it: switches, access points, cameras, phones, printers and power. It holds its own tunnel, so there is nothing to set up on the firewall.
